Elle WALDMANN is an American designer who founded the WALDMANN label after working as a part of the couture team at Alexander McQueen in London And designing for a number of luxury brands around the world.
Following a creative and nature-filled upbringing in Seattle, where she learned to drape and stitch in her mother’s sewing room, Elle decided to forgo law school in order to move to London in order to pursue the art of design and tailoring. After studying at both Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion, she began her career in Los Angeles, drawn by both the love of California modernism and the natural world. She then continued to work around the world as a designer for luxury brands based between Los Angeles, London and Hong Kong.
During the early years of her career, Elle worked directly with fabric mills in Japan, with family owned tanneries in France and Italy, and side-by-side with embroidery artisans in Delhi, Mumbai and across India. Following a number of years based in Asia, Elle returned to London and her sartorial roots to earn a Masters in Womenswear from LCF, receiving distinctions for her ‘sculpturally modern take on couture’. She then continue on at the Alexander McQueen Couture studio, where she further honed her skills in concept development, textile design and creative pattern cutting while working to create looks for Paris fashion week, red carpets and various heads of state.
With her unique aesthetic as a designer shaped by this diverse and international background of exposures, experiences and skills - Elle returned to Los Angeles full-time in 2016 and launched WALDMANN in 2017.
